We’re celebrating this summer because, “Elvis® in still in the building”. The Sahara Tahoe (now the Horizon Casino) was the only place Elvis Presley performed in Northern Nevada and appeared often from 1971-1976.
The Horizon Casino has been invited to be one of twenty-four sanctioned preliminary competition locations for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist contest. This is the second year that Elvis Presley Enterprises has held a contest in search of The Elvis Tribute Artist that is the “best representation of the legacy of Elvis Presley.” The winner of the Horizon Casino preliminary round will win a trip to Memphis, Tennessee and entry to compete in the final stages of competition that will take place during Elvis Week 2008 in August.
If you are an Elvis tribute artist and are interesting in competing in the Preliminary rounds held at the Horizon Casino, please read below. If you're a fan and would like to come watch, spectators are welcome during all rounds.
The Horizon Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist Contest will consist of seven Preliminary rounds with the top two scores of each round advancing to the Semi-Final round on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 7:00 pm. Every Tuesday, from June 17, 2008 until July 22, 2008, six Preliminary rounds will be held at 6:00 pm in the Golden Cabaret Showroom. Registration fees for these rounds are $25. The final Preliminary round will be Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 2:00 pm. The registration fee for this last Preliminary round will be $50.
Only Elvis Tribute Artists receiving the two highest total scores in our Preliminary rounds will proceed to the Horizon UETAC Semi-Final on July 26, 2008 at 7:00 pm to be held in the Horizon Convention Center.
To register, you will need to print out theses forms and send them by mail or fax along with your registration fee to:

Registration is complete when all required forms, fees and photo have been received. You will be notified by email or mail confirming we’ve received your materials.
A complete registration consists of:
- Completed Registration Form
- Good Quality Photograph
- 50 word personal bio
- Registration Fee of $25.00 for a Tuesday Preliminary round or $50 for the Preliminary round Saturday, July 26, 2008
- A fully completed song selection form indicating your preliminary round song preferences
